Weekly Devotion – October 11th
How tragic that the man in Sunday’s Gospel went away sorrowful because he could not give up his great wealth. Money and material possessions are often important necessities to be sure. Yet sometimes they become too important. The man in the Gospel let his possessions control his life, rather than being a good steward of the gifts he was given.
A good steward is grateful to the Lord for all of the blessings He has bestowed, responsible in the care and use of those blessings, and generous in sharing these gifts. A good steward makes a return to the Lord with increase, using his or her gifts to make a positive difference in the world.
We pray together: St. Jude, open us to the treasures of heaven. May nothing hinder me from giving all of my efforts to God.
