In this week’s Gospel, John the Baptist must refute claims that he is the Messiah. Instead of pretending he’s someone he’s not, John tells the Pharisees that he is only a voice preparing others for the coming of the Lord.

As we begin this third week of Advent, we grow anxious for the arrival of Christ the King. We must stay humble like John the Baptist while we prepare during this season.

We pray together: St. Jude, help me embark on my journey toward humility so that I may be like John the Baptist.
