Weekly Devotion – August 12th

Jesus clearly intends the phrase “bread of life” to have a much more particular meaning during Sunday’s Gospel. He identifies the phrase with His bodily flesh and blood. When He says that His flesh will be given for the life of the world, Jesus is referring to His sacrifice at Calvary.

Jesus offers us a life of love, fellowship, and communion with the Lord God who made us in love. To accept Jesus as the bread of heaven is not only life and spiritual nourishment for this world but also glory in the world to come.

We pray together: St. Jude, may the body of Christ sanctify me, refresh me, and strengthen me today.
