It is our wish that all devoted followers of St. Jude are able to revel in the beauty of the Shrine, even if you are not able to visit in person.
The history of the Shrine is rich. It was on a fall night in 1929 when the people of Chicago first flocked to the National Shrine of St. Jude for the Solemn Novena. They came by the hundreds, filling the newly built Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, in which the Shrine is built, and spilling out onto East 91st Street.
What were these pilgrims searching for? It’s a simple answer, and one that keeps the devotion to St. Jude strong today: the promise of hope. Times were tough, much as they are today, and people came with their petitions and their need for the intercession of St. Jude.
We also invite you to discover the Shrine as featured in the EWTN series Hidden Gems: Catholic Shrines in America. Whether you can visit in person or not, we invite you to experience its sacred beauty and powerful atmosphere of devotion. Click here to immerse yourself in the serenity of this hidden gem!
Thank you for your steadfast devotion and continued support. May the hope of St. Jude remain alive in your heart in all you do.
