Dear Friend of St. Jude,
Celebrate Fr. Mark Brummel, as he retires from his role as our generous leader of so many impactful ministries. Together with you, we have experienced “Fr. Mark” blessings too numerous to count. . . from his shepherding of the St. Jude League to the Claretian Provincial Council as our treasurer and serving on a host of national and local boards. His career is marked by a Holy Spirit of goodness.
Since his ordination in 1960, the spiritual thread that runs through all of Fr. Mark’s work is service. Helping others on their journeys at all ages and stages of life defines the extraordinary arc of his impact—and reminds me as his brother priest, and indeed each one of us, that the highest use of our faith is service and prayer, with God at the center of all. In doing this, we cultivate a joyful spirit of hope in the world!
To honor Fr. Mark and enable the opportunity to continue his outreach, we are delighted to establish the Legacy of Hope Fund. I invite you to join me in supporting this fund that serves three Claretian ministries near and dear to Fr. Mark:
• Villa Guadalupe Senior Community: For decades, Villa Guadalupe serves as a model of excellence in senior living, providing a comprehensive array of life-enhancing services to South Chicago seniors, including quality apartments, bilingual social and health services, and other enriching activities—all at no charge.
• Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG) School: A pillar of the Claretian mission is Catholic education, raising every next generation as disciples of Christ. With Hispanic heritage and Catholic tradition as its foundation, OLG has flourished with Fr. Mark’s legacy of leadership in forming students who are educated to become the Christian and civic leaders of the future.
• National Shrine of St. Jude: Hope, healing, peace. The Shrine is the epicenter of the national devotion to St. Jude. Fr. Mark created the spiritual inspiration of countless letters to the faithful, who send their petitions for hope and healing for prayer every day. “The devotion to St. Jude truly has a universal appeal,” says Fr. Mark, the director of the St. Jude League for over 50 years.
